Galleries’ Nights was born in 2013 as a cultural initiative by the Embassy of France in Thailand, inspired by Paris’s iconic Nuit Blanche. What began as a night of artistic wandering has grown into one of the largest urban art festivals in Thailand. Year after year, the event transforms Bangkok and Chiang Mai into open-air galleries where creativity flows through the streets, and the public is invited to explore art freely, regardless of age, experience, or background.
The event has consistently expanded its reach and impact. The 2024 edition attracted over 30,000 visitors across 100 galleries, demonstrating the strong public appetite for accessible art experiences. Today, Galleries’ Nights stands as a cornerstone of Thailand's cultural landscape — inclusive, vibrant, and deeply rooted in both local spirit and international collaboration.
As the event continues to flourish, the Embassy’s long-term vision is to expand Galleries’ Nights to other regions of Thailand, nurturing art communities and fostering sustainable cultural development.

Honoring Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, The Queen Mother
Her Majesty’s lifelong support of Thai artisans, traditional craftsmanship, and local artists has shaped the nation’s cultural identity. This year’s Galleries’ Nights pays tribute to her extraordinary contributions by showcasing exhibitions inspired by Thai craftsmanship.
Celebrating 340 Years of Franco-Thai Friendship
2025 marks the 340th anniversary of diplomatic relations between France and Thailand — a testament to centuries of cultural and artistic exchange. Galleries’ Nights, supported by the Embassy of France and Sawasdee France, becomes a symbolic stage to honor this enduring relationship.
Advancing Gender Equality in the Arts
For the first time, the event highlights gender representation in contemporary art in partnership with AWARE (Archives of Women Artists, Research & Exhibitions). Galleries featuring women artists will display a recognizable emblem, honoring their voices and amplifying their presence in the cultural landscape.
A New Project: The Flow of History
During the closing ceremony at the Jim Thompson Art Center on 23 November 2025, AWARE and Asia Art Archive will launch “The Flow of History: Southeast Asian Women Artists” — a major initiative shedding light on the artistic contributions of women across the region.

Galleries’ Nights in Thailand
The Bangkok Art and Culture Centre records that the Embassy of France in Thailand initiated Galleries’ Nights in 2013, inspired by France’s Nuit Blanche tradition of opening cultural spaces across a city after dark.
